Auch wenn ich sie nicht persönlich gekannt habe, fühlte ich mich bei der Nachricht ganz komisch. Als würde es sich um eine bekannte Person handeln. Ich wünschte mir immer, einmal zu ihren Lebzeiten ihre Heimat in Schweden zu besuchen. Das ist mir leider nicht gelungen. Aber ich werde es dennoch auf alle Fälle noch tun. Commentsi remember clearly when i got my first book `the children of noisy village`. a neighbor gave it to my four siblings and me as a christmas present. i must have been 6 years old...my dad read it to us but i was the only one who felt in love with it immediately...so i kept it! and i read it like ten times. i read it to my younger brother when he was sick and i read it when i was sitting little girls...! i just love astrid lindgren and i will never forget her and her great books which made me dreaming. i cried bitterly when she died. now i am having a report about her in order to introduce her to some south americans and koreans from school. i although bought some books for a little girl i am taking care of... i always wanted to have a birthday like lisa from the noisy village...(o; astrid lindgren will be in my thoughts forever...

In week number 14 we´re having a AstridLindgren-week at our school, where we´ll have treasure- runs, drama workshops and a lot of other funny things around her. CommentsI found out recently Astrid Lindgren was related to me. Her mother Hanna is my grandmother's sister Fredia Sophia Jonson (Johansson) who married my grandfather Charles Almgren. Fredia help raise me during WW11 as my father was a Commander in the Navy and my mother was having her 5th child. Fredia came over to Moline Illinois in 1892 as an indentured servant for the John Deere Family and she passed away in 1962 at the age of 92

CommentsI love Pippi, I grew up with her, and she was always my favourite character... Later on Ronja appeared and I love her as well... and Kalle Blomquist, and Karlson... Astrid will be immortal with all her wonderful work and I hope that in years to come children still felt the same excitement reading her books as I felt when I was little (and not so little, mind you...)

CommentsAstrid- Amazingly, I am your great-great-great-great- great niece. Obviously, I never got to meet you but I wish I could have, you inspire me in so many ways! As a child my mom used to read me Pippi Longstocking books then in second grade my teacher showed me your first book about the three houses, the west, the east, and the one in the middle. I plan on re-reading them again soon! I continue writing and reading, and someday I would like to have a book published too!

CommentsPippi Longstocking is my hero and has been since I first encountered her many, many years ago. She is a free spririt and the world would be a better place if everyone read about Pippi and tried to be more like her. I do and it keeps me from getting too old and grumpy. It is especially important to always walk with one foot on the pavement and one foot in the gutter. oh, and wear coloured stockings whenever you can.

Would love to have a copy of Brothers Lionheart on dvd or vhs, in English, for my ill mother who is a big fan of that story but who can no longer read. CommentsAstrid was in her own unique way able to put into fantasy character, what many others can't even put into a REAL character when they write. She had the ability to charm both young and old. No matter what story you choose - I can identify myself in one way or another in everyone of them. Thank you Astrid for all the wonderful memories that you've given me, and for all the ones that are yet to come!

It was so long ago, and so much water went under the bridge I forgot the plot...I am 45, look 25 and now that I am googling pippi I realise how much of pippi still lives in me. CommentsThank you Astrid for Pippi, Emil, Karlson, Bullerbyn stories ... and all the rest. They were my best bodies and companions in my childchood in socialistic Poland. I was reading them again and again,watching all the movies.They helped me to hold to a colourfull world inside me, when the days were gray outside. Pippi - is my blood sister. Thank you Astrid for Pippi, she gave me the right to feel different - courious about people and world around me, strong not to compromise and keep discovering by myself. I admired her amazing personality and strengh. She is the best girlfriend I ever had. Now I am a mother myself. James'es present for his third birthday will be Pippi Longstocking stories.
